Description
Schistosoma species are blood flukes causing schistosomiasis. Infection occurs via skin contact with freshwater containing cercariae. Chronic infection may affect the liver, intestines, or urinary tract.
This test detects IgG antibodies specific to Schistosoma species, indicating exposure, and may be used to support the diagnosis of schistosomiasis when combined with clinical or imaging findings.
