Description
Quantitative determination of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in plasma/serum
This laboratory test quantitatively measures free SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in plasma/serum. The analysis is performed using a high-sensitivity ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) method.
Only spike protein that is not bound to antibodies can be detected by this test.
The detection limit of the assay is 4.5 pg/mL, allowing very small amounts of spike protein to be measured.
While the test detects the presence of spike protein, it cannot identify the specific source, such as a viral variant or vaccination
Test results should always be interpreted together with clinical symptoms and medical history.
Detection of free SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in plasma/serum indicates persistent circulating spike protein.
