Description
Quantitative determination of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in exosomes
This blood test measures the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein contained within exosomes isolated from plasma or serum.
Exosomes are very small particles naturally released by cells. They act as a communication system in the body, transporting biologically active substances such as proteins and genetic material between cells and organs.
Research has shown that SARS-CoV-2 spike protein can be packaged into exosomes and transported through the bloodstream. This allows the spike protein to reach different tissues and organs, including those with a higher density of receptors for the spike protein.
For this test, exosomes are purified from approximately 4 mL of plasma or serum.
While the test detects the presence of spike protein, it cannot identify the specific source, such as a viral variant or vaccination
The detection of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in exosomes is considered an indication of a systemic distribution and effect of the spike protein within the body.
It is recommended that this test is interpreted alongside SSP2.
This test is carried out in Germany by Magdeburg Molecular Diagnostics (MMD). The shipping/courier cost (added at checkout) includes the DHL Medical Express packaging and paperwork for customs.
