Description
The RANTES (CCL5) test measures the concentration of the chemokine CCL5 in blood. CCL5 is a key immune signaling molecule involved in the recruitment and activation of immune cells at sites of inflammation. It is produced by T lymphocytes, platelets, macrophages, and endothelial cells and plays an important role in immune regulation and inflammatory responses.
This assay quantifies circulating levels of RANTES (CCL5), reflecting immune activation and chemokine-mediated inflammatory signaling. Altered levels may be associated with chronic inflammation, immune dysregulation, or ongoing immune responses.
This test is not diagnostic on its own and should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory markers.
