Description
IgG2 makes up about 20–30% of the total IgG in the blood.
IgG2 is more specialized for recognizing carbohydrate antigens, such as those found on the surface of encapsulated bacteria (e.g., Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae). This subclass is essential for defense against bacteria with polysaccharide capsules.
IgG subclasses can also be ordered collectively: IgG subclasses (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4)
