Description
This blood test measures IgG antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
IgG antibodies are produced by the immune system after contact with the virus or following vaccination. Their presence indicates that the body has mounted an immune response to the spike protein.
The test determines the amount of these antibodies in the blood and helps assess prior exposure to SARS-CoV-2 or response to vaccination.
A positive result shows that antibodies are present, but it does not on its own determine the level of protection or immunity.
